Malgrado Super Robot Wars A abbia ottenuto dai recensori di Famitsu, famosa rivista specializzata nipponica, solo un discreto 30/40 (8, 7, 7, 8), forse per essere un porting da Game Boy Advance, il nuovo titolo per PSP si posiziona al 1° posto nella classifica software giapponese dal 16 al 22 giugno, con più di 100.000 copie vendute, e al terzo posto la settimana successiva, arrivando a toccare la cifra di 180.000.
